H.E. Al Zeyoudi visits Belgium Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai

Pavilion promotes preservation of environment and dialogue between nations

H.E. Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, Minister of State for Foreign Trade, visited the Belgium pavilion located in the Mobility District of Expo 2020 Dubai. The minister was received by Miriam Kops, Director of the Belgian pavilion, which has been set up under the theme ‘Diversity in Harmony.’

H.E. Al Zeyoudi confirmed the importance of Expo 2020 Dubai in supporting the UAE's global position as an incubation hub for budding businesses and its efforts to strengthen economic cooperation with all participating countries. He pointed out that the exhibition is the most comprehensive and largest in terms of global participation in the history of international expos. He further explained that Expo 2020’s theme ‘Connecting Minds, Creating the Future’ embodies a number of leading goals, and provides an opportunity to participate in discovering new ways for sustainable growth and prosperity, as it lays a solid ground for building development partnerships for the future in various fields such as economy, business, trade, investment, talent attraction, tourism and culture.

The Belgium pavilion offers a unique experience to visitors as it highlights some of the most famous Belgian comics along with other content. The pavilion promotes the preservation of the environment and green spaces and seeks to facilitate dialogue between nations. Under the slogan ‘The Green Arch’, the pavilion also showcases the industrial, technical and scientific development achieved by Belgium, and serves as a bridge that helps connect with its people, as the country is located in the heart of Europe in the midst of major cities and provides easy connectivity to all other European cities.

The non-oil trade exchange between the UAE and Belgium amounted to about USD 7 billion in 2021, achieving a strong growth at 46 per cent compared to 2020, and 18 per cent compared to 2019. Belgium is the UAE's fourth EU trading partner as it accounts for about 13.4 per cent of the non-oil foreign trade between the UAE and the European Union. Belgium also ranks first in re-exports, constituting nearly 35 per cent of the total re-exports of the UAE to the EU countries, and acquires about 16.2 per cent of the total non-oil UAE exports to the European Union.
