H.E. Bin Touq emphasizes UAE’s commitment to supporting GCC’s joint action

 

 

 

H.E. Abdulla bin Touq Al Marri, Minister of Economy, led the UAE delegation at the sixth ministerial meeting of the Permanent Preparatory Committee of the GCC Economic and Development Affairs Authority in Doha, Qatar, on Sunday, October 13, 2024.

During his participation in the meeting, H.E. Bin Touq emphasized that the UAE is committed to supporting joint GCC efforts in all fields, especially on economic and trade fronts, to advance sustainable development and enhance the resilience and integration of GCC economies.

H.E. said: "The Committee meeting is a key platform for strengthening economic cooperation and supporting the use of the economic strengths of the GCC states and their outstanding infrastructure, especially as the bloc today has become an influential economic force in the regional and global economic and investment landscape. This motivates us to continue our collective efforts to enhance the competitiveness of GCC economies, to provide more enablers and opportunities, especially in future sectors such as technology, innovation and the new economy."

During the meeting, the Committee members emphasized the importance of regional and international blocs, noting that GCC has been able to strengthen its position as one of the most important blocs. The meeting underlined the importance of launching more initiatives and projects that further promote GCC’s economic cooperation and integration, opening up wider avenues for strategic partnerships with regional and global markets.

In addition, the Committee reviewed the performance of GCC economies in light of the current economic shifts and highlighted their achievements, which include advanced positions in various regional and global indicators. Also reviewed during the meeting were the progress made by the initiatives and projects aimed at achieving economic integration among the member states and the governance and documentation of the bloc’s economic and development efforts.
