Initiatives and projects that contribute to achieving economic integration by 2025 highlighted
The UAE participated in the 4th GCC Economic and Development Affairs Authority Permanent Ministerial Preparatory Committee meeting, which took place at the GCC General Secretariat in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
H.E. Abdulla bin Touq Al Marri, Minister of Economy, affirmed the UAE's keenness to strengthen cooperation with its GCC partners in line with its wise leadership’s directives underlining the need to support integration in various fields, in a way that supports sustainable development efforts of Gulf economies and enhances the welfare of their people.
He said: "GCC countries possess all strengths needed to become one of the key drivers of global trade movement along with their experiences in tackling the pandemic. The early recovery of our economies confirm this. We are confident of the significance of our concerted efforts to achieve economic integration of GCC countries by 2025 - the main objective on the Economic and Development Affairs Authority’s agenda - through the implementation of strategic initiatives and projects designed to achieve this goal.”
The meeting further explored key topics related to facilitating GCC’s joint efforts on the economic and development fronts, most notably the initiatives and projects that will help achieve economic integration by 2025.
Moreover, H.E. Bin Touq emphasized the Authority’s key role in overcoming challenges that impede the economic integration of the GCC countries. He also pointed out the vital role of the economic bloc in ensuring the sustainable economic growth and development of GCC countries in light of global market shifts.
The Committee agreed on continuing the efforts and moving forward with projects and initiatives that contribute to strengthening joint Gulf action and achieving GCC’s economic integration.
