Minister reviews the Nordic country’s achievements in sustainable energy, clean technology & digital solutions among others

H.E. Dr Ahmad Belhoul Al Falasi, Minister of State for Entrepreneurship and SMEs, visited the Finland pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai, which is located in the Mobility district under the theme ‘Sharing Future Happiness.’ The Minister was received by Severi Keinälä, Commissioner General of Finland at Expo 2020 Dubai.

H.E. Al Falasi stated that Expo 2020 Dubai follows its theme “Connecting Minds, Creating the Future” in so many ways and serves as a unique platform for exploring innovative ways to achieve growth and prosperity. It has laid a solid foundation for building developmental partnerships for the future in many aspects of economy, business, trade, investment, entrepreneurship, and tourism. H.E. also pointed out the importance of the Expo in consolidating the UAE’s global position as a business incubator, supporting its economic cooperation with all the participating countries.

During his visit, H.E. Al Falasi admired the pavilion’s unique design which highlights Finland’s climate and its long winters, combined with the characteristics of the Arabian desert. The pavilion also highlights the immense technological advancements made by Finland through showcasing the country’s pioneering clean technologies, circular economy concepts and sustainability principles, in addition to those in the fields of sustainable energy, digital solutions, mobile communications, machinery, education, health, entertainment, and travel.

The economic cooperation between the UAE and Finland continues to grow as the non-oil trade exchange between the two countries reached about AED 1 billion in 2021. The two countries strive to develop bilateral relations, grow existing partnership, and expand and diversify the prospects for economic collaboration in order to support each other’s developmental aspirations for the next stage.
