H.E. Al Zeyoudi & Croatian Minister of Economy explore ways to enhance economic cooperation
Minister visits Croatian pavilion at Expo 2020
H.E. Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, Minister of State for Foreign Trade, visited the Croatia Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai, located in the Mobility District under the theme ‘Great minds who influenced today's world.’
During the visit, H.E. Al Zeyoudi held a bilateral meeting with H.E. Tomislav Ćorić, Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Croatia, during which, the two ministers discussed ways to advance economic partnership by exploring new areas of cooperation between the two countries. The meeting explored new paths to economic integration and development during the next phase and ways to increase trade and investment flows between the two countries.
H.E. Al Zeyoudi praised the importance of Expo 2020 Dubai and its vital role in attracting companies and businesses to the UAE, enhancing the country’s business and investment environment, and consolidating its role as an outstanding destination on the global economic landscape. Expo 2020 provides visiting delegations, officials, global companies, entrepreneurs, and investors from all over the world with opportunities to learn about the country's leading trade and investment environment first-hand. It also gives them the opportunity to know more about its highly developed infrastructure, technology, and digitalization, as well as its ambitious plans for the future, rich opportunities, and importance as an increasingly remarkable destination for talents, competencies, minds, creators, ideas, and entrepreneurial projects.
During the visit, H.E. Al Zeyoudi was briefed on Croatia's history and development with an overview of the country's 1,000 historical fortresses and more than 1,000 islands scattered on its coastline in the Adriatic Sea.
The Croatian pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai features huge screens displaying videos of the most prominent cities and islands of the country, apart from historical fortresses that intermingle with nature, clad in greenery. The display recounts the most prominent facts about Croatia's history and the fortresses that symbolize it, as well as the spectacular landscape of mountains, beaches, and nature reserves.
Visitors to the Croatian pavilion can take a journey to the past through a large room inside the pavilion surrounded by large screens displaying Croatia's most remarkable icons such as inventor and futurist Nikola Tesla, in addition to modern icons in sport and art, most notably the Real Madrid player Luka Modric.
The non-oil trade between the UAE and Croatia grew significantly in 2021, up 61% compared to 2020 and 20% compared to 2019, as cooperation areas covered a range of vital economic sectors.
