The UAE pavilion concluded its participation at the 86th International Exhibition of Thessaloniki 2022 in Greece, where the UAE was the Honored Country at the fair, making it the first Arab country to have received this honorary title. The UAE pavilion saw a great turnout with thousands of visitors who came over during the fair to learn about the pillars of the UAE economy and the investment opportunities it offers in various sectors. The visitors also took part in the many events held by the pavilion, which reflected the UAE’s culture and heritage.
HE Abdulla Bin Touq Al Marri, Minister of Economy, was the head of the UAE delegation participating the Thessaloniki International Fair 2022, which included HE Sulaiman Hamid Al Mazroui, Ambassador of the UAE to the Hellenic Republic, in addition to around 65 companies from the public and private sectors that represented the various economic sectors in the country, including investment, aviation, energy, food and beverage, defense, space technology, tourism, shipping, and real estate, among other important sectors. During the fair, the delegation held many meetings at the UAE pavilion with relevant Greek officials, while the UAE companies participating in the fair held over 1000 business meetings under the supervision and with the participation of the Federation of Industries of Greece. The fruitful meetings aimed to provide facilitations for investments in various priority sectors, in order to support the country’s future goals to build a sustainable, diverse, and competitive knowledge economy to ensure long term prosperity and welfare for the next generations. In light of the this, the fair organizers held a dinner banquet in honor of the host country, Greece, and the Honored Country, the UAE, to celebrate the two countries’ strong relations, in the presence of a number of officials and notable figures from both countries.
HE Saif Mohammed Al Suwaidi, Director General of the General Civil Aviation Authority, said: “The UAE’s participation in the fair is in line with its plans to develop its strategic relations with Greece and enhance their collaboration in various fields. The fair presented an important opportunity to open new markets, establish strategic partnerships, support trade and investment, and increase collaboration between the two countries in other areas of common interest. The fair also paved the way for bilateral collaborations and highlighted the efforts of the General Civil Aviation Authority and its strategic initiatives in the civil aviation sector, and the economic sector in general.”
Mohammad Almutawa, Group CEO, Ducab, said: “The Thessaloniki International Fair 2022 is a leading platform that allowed UAE companies to present their various innovative services and projects led by Emirati nationals. As for Ducab, this fair presented an opportunity to explore the trade and investment opportunities in Greece. This participation also reflected the strong relations between the two countries, which Ducab is proud to be a part of, as we aim to support strategic international projects in many vital sectors, including energy, transportation, manufacturing, defense, construction, and other sectors that the international fair specializes in.”
Almutawa emphasized Ducab Group’s commitment to support products that hold the trademark ‘Made in the UAE’, and export them to various global markets, in support of the growth of the national economy and to participate in increasing the contribution of the manufacturing sector in the country’s GDP from AED 133 billion to AED 300 billion by 2031. This is in line with the Ministry of industry and Advanced Technology’s industrial strategy known as Operation 300bn. Almutawa added that Ducab is also focusing on achieving international sustainability, as the group exports its products to over 45 markets in the GCC, Europe, Asia, Africa, North America, and South America.
To that end, the Head of Corporate Services Sector at Agthia Group said: “Our participation in the Thessaloniki International Fair 2022 was a great opportunity for us to showcase our innovative trademark, and it also supported our global expansion goals.”
