Minister of Economy meets with Czech ministers to explore strengthening of economic partnership and enhance cooperation in priority sectors

Both parties affirm the importance of continuing to activate the outcomes of the Joint Economic Committee

H.E. Abdulla bin Touq Al Marri, UAE Minister of Economy, held two high-level meetings with Czech government officials - H.E. Jan Lipavský, Minister of Foreign Affairs, and H.E. Petr Kolář, Minister of Regional Development - on the sidelines of the World Tourism Forum that took place in Prague on 12 and 13 May 2025. The discussions centered on accelerating economic cooperation in strategic sectors aligned with both countries’ growth visions, reinforcing their shared commitment to sustainable development and innovation-driven prosperity.

H.E. Bin Touq underscored the robust and steadily expanding relations between the UAE and the Czech Republic, marked by deepening alignment and mutual understanding across key developmental sectors in recent years. His Excellency highlighted that the establishment of the Joint Economic Committee in 2024 marked a key milestone in advancing bilateral ties, laying the groundwork for a structured partnership through a forward-looking agenda designed to unlock new avenues of collaboration in high-priority sectors.

During the meetings, H.E. outlined the UAE’s strategic roadmap to strengthen global economic partnerships, with a focus on expanding collaboration with friendly nations in transformative fields such as the new economy, advanced technology, digital transformation, and entrepreneurship. He emphasized the UAE’s proactive approach to fostering an open, integrated, and future-ready partnership with the Czech Republic—a dynamic economic hub in Central Europe endowed with vast potential across diverse and vital industries.

The Minister of Economy said: “The meetings explored ways to enhance the economic ties between the two countries and to establish a partnership model based on openness and integration, in light of the shared aspirations of both leaderships to develop these relations.”

Continuing to activate the outputs of the Joint Economic Committee between the two countries

H.E. Jan Lipavský and H.E. Bin Touq explored actionable strategies to maximize the outcomes of the Joint Economic Committee, with a focus on enhancing public-private sector synergy. Both sides stressed the importance of trade delegation exchanges, joint investment forums, and intensified cooperation in innovation and the digital economy—key drivers of sustainable development and economic diversification.

The discussions also highlighted the need for closer integration between the two nations’ business ecosystems, particularly in emerging economic sectors, to capitalize on their respective strengths. The UAE and the Czech Republic, as regional leaders in investment and innovation, are well-positioned to serve as gateways for economic opportunities in the Arab world and Central Europe.

Discussion on areas of sustainable regional development between the two countries

During his meeting with H.E. Petr Kolář, H.E. Bin Touq emphasized the significance of bolstering cooperation in sustainable regional development, including knowledge-sharing in smart city management and digital infrastructure. Such collaboration, he noted, would amplify the efficiency of development initiatives while unlocking new investment prospects in high-potential regions of both countries.

Concluding the meetings, H.E. Bin Touq reaffirmed the UAE leadership’s dedication to cultivating impactful economic alliances with global partners. He described the Czech Republic as a pivotal European ally, given its advanced industrial and technological expertise, which presents vast opportunities for synergy in priority sectors.

The UAE and the Czech Republic held the inaugural session of the Joint Economic Committee last year (June 2024), where they agreed to enhance economic cooperation in several sectors and economic activities, most notably in the new economy, tourism, entrepreneurship, transport, financial services, agriculture, environment, food security, logistics, energy, renewable energy, industry, advanced technology, and innovation.
