Ministry of Economy briefs GITEX 2022 visitors on its Unified Tour Guide License initiative
Initiative qualifies UAE citizens to serve as national tourism ambassadors
The Ministry of Economy briefed the visitors to its GITEX 2022 booth on its Tour Guide License program - one of the most important initiatives by the Ministry to enhance the tour guide profession in the country. Most notably, the initiative is designed to enable the country’s citizens to serve as ambassadors of the UAE tourism sector. The initiative raises awareness on the country’s tourism potential, its cultural heritage and uniqueness to motivate young Emiratis to join and work in various tourism-related roles. Thus, it contributes to the development of the tourism sector led by national talent and enhances the UAE’s position on the global tourism landscape. The initiative also promotes growth opportunities for the tourism sector by attracting tourists from various global markets in line with national objectives and the determinants of the UAE Centennial 2071.
The Tour Guide License program is one of the most prominent services and programs that the Ministry of Economy highlighted at the latest edition of GITEX. The Ministry invited UAE nationals to benefit from the advantages offered by the platform, explaining the easy steps to obtain this license online. The steps include: registration through the digital platform of the license, activation of the account on the platform and filling in the required information, and then booking an appointment to take the knowledge test. The applicant must sit this test and clear it before the last step - which is securing the unified license, which qualifies the candidate to start practicing the profession of tour guide in the country.
The Ministry of Economy launched the Unified Tour License in February 2021 in line with the UAE wise leadership’s vision and as part of its interest in the tourism sector as a key pillar to building a diversified, balanced, and sustainable economy for future generations .
