The Ministry of Economy (MoEc) announced the launch of its new ‘UAE - Africa Gateway’ digital platform, designed to facilitate the expansion and investments of UAE businesses in African markets. Through this initiative, MoEc aims to strengthen economic and investment partnerships between the UAE and African countries, fostering mutual investments flows in various new and vital economic sectors.
The Ministry highlighted that the introduction of this platform is a key part of its initiatives to enable local businesses to enter promising new markets that present unique investment opportunities and capitalize on them. The platform also seeks to reinforce the UAE’s investment vision for partnerships with strategic and promising markets, establish its position as an attractive and influential global economic hub, in line with the ‘We the UAE 2031’ vision.
Services offered by the platform
The Investment and Talent Attraction Department of the International Trade Sector in the Ministry stated that the platform will provide an interactive map for users to explore investment possibilities and diverse opportunities in 15 African countries. It will offer comprehensive information and data about these markets, such as macroeconomic indicators, business environment, organizational and legal environment, investment incentives, promising sectors, investment prospects, and success stories of companies. Thus, it will serve as a resource assisting UAE companies in making well-informed decisions regarding investments in African markets.
Training Program for local companies
Furthermore, the UAE-Africa Gateway is set to introduce a specialized program aimed at supporting and empowering 15 local investment companies in specific African countries. The program will create a personalized account for each company on the platform, in addition to assigning a designated account manager to each of them. The primary objective is to facilitate bilateral meetings with the potential business partners and key stakeholders in the target countries. Additionally, they will be responsible for supervising, enhancing, and tracking the companies' investment activities in collaboration with relevant authorities.
The new platform will empower UAE companies to capitalize on over 50 strategic economic partnerships with local African companies and government bodies. The initiative strives to foster sustainable development and mutual advantages, offering UAE’s private sector access to more than 100 finance-ready projects across 12 economic sectors.
Boosting expansion prospects for Emirati businesses in African markets
The Ministry explained that the UAE-Africa Gateway initiative will significantly enhance investment opportunities for UAE companies in the Sub-Saharan Africa region. It will strengthen dialogue at the private sector level, help explore promising opportunities, and improve cooperation between UAE and African markets. Ultimately, it will contribute to achieving sustainable economic growth in the region by connecting companies and investors, facilitating trade missions, organizing outstanding events, and fostering fruitful economic partnerships.
