Meeting held on the sidelines of World Government Summit 2023

 

 

 H.E. Abdullah bin Touq Al Marri, UAE Minister of Economy, met with George Oliver, Chairman of Johnson Controls, a leading provider of smart building technology and related software and services, to discuss strengthening of cooperation in the field of sustainable urban development. The meeting took place on the sidelines of the World Government Summit 2023.

H.E. Bin Touq underlined the importance of the World Government Summit in developing innovative solutions that contribute to promoting sustainability and the preservation of natural resources. The Minister also highlighted the Summit’s key role in stimulating investments in clean energy and enablers of green development, which improve the quality of life for people and support stability in all societies.

Furthermore, the two sides explored means to develop cooperation through the economic Regulations Lab (RegLab), which was launched by the UAE government, by utilizing it in the implementation of pilot projects in various areas of sustainability. This will support the UAE government’s efforts to drive sustainable urban development in line with the objectives of the 50 and the determinants of the UAE Centennial 2071. The meeting further discussed how the UAE's hosting of the Conference of the Parties (COP28) is set to help the development of forward-looking policies that serve areas related to sustainability.

Johnson Controls has nearly 140 years of experience in the development of sustainable buildings using AI techniques, and has implemented several sustainable urban projects in the UAE.

The World Government Summit is a leading platform dedicated to shaping the future of governments. Since its launch in 2013, the Summit has made significant strides in coordinating the efforts to enhance joint government action to find solutions for future challenges through establishing effective partnerships.

The latest edition of the Summit is hosting over 10,000 participants, including presidents, senior government officials, experts, and businessmen, to build the future of governments through 220 interactive panel discussions.
