Ministry of Economy upgrades 18 digital services
H.E. Al Saleh: The Ministry of Economy now provides proactive services with added value through an advanced governance system in line with the country’s vision for the next 50
Abu Dhabi, 19 July 2022
The Ministry of Economy (MOE) announced that it has upgraded a number of services making them more proactive, which customers can access through its digital channels. The upgrade covers 18 services that are diverse and aimed at both individuals and companies. The initiative falls in line with the Ministry’s efforts to achieve more flexibility in the delivery of services and adopt innovative and sustainable working models following the wise leadership’s directives and in line with the goals and principles of the 50 and the UAE Centennial 2071, thereby driving the digital transformation of government services. The upgraded services include renewal and cancellation of trade licenses and services for trademarks, private joint stock companies, branches of foreign companies, and other services for individuals and institutions.
H.E. Abdulla Al Saleh, Undersecretary for the Ministry of Economy, said: “The Ministry is committed to integrating latest technologies into its operations to facilitate procedures for customers, both individuals and institutions. This helps us provide proactive services with added value through an advanced governance system and according to the highest international standards in line with country’s vision for the upcoming 50 that entails building an economic model based on knowledge and innovation and consolidating the UAE’s position as a leading global business and investment hub.”
Furthermore, H.E. emphasized that through the upgradation of these services, the Ministry aims to reduce the fines or penalties imposed on customers and enhance their experience by providing unique services with highest quality standards. He added that in collaboration with its strategic partners, the Ministry will continue to digitally transform all of its transformable services into proactive services that are available to customers around the clock.
The changes include addition of proactive reminder features which are AI-powered and information-enabled, most notably the service for sending scheduled automatic alert notifications. This is now applies to the renewal of trademark registration, renewal of registration for private joint stock companies, cancellation of registration for private joint stock companies, sale and merger license for companies, renewal of commercial agency registration, re-registration of a canceled company, and license to use a trademark. Apart from these, the registration of private joint stock companies, cancellation of registration for private joint stock companies, registration of a branch of a foreign facility, writing off the commercial license with the Department of Economic Development, amendments to the commercial license and the submission of a new bank guarantee to the Ministry of Economy have also been updated. In addition, nearing the end of the transaction in order to avoid financial penalties, the necessity of renewal of the commercial license with the Department of Economic Development, nearing the expiry date of the registration, and the cancellation of the commercial license with the local authorities, among others.
Other services now boast features that can offer automatic information to customers in a smart way, which facilitates and speeds up customers’ access to the service and allows them to submit applications correctly. These services include transfer of ownership of a trademark, cancellation of a trademark, filing of trademark infringement complaints, trademark mortgage requests, trademark information or logo modification for products or services, amending trademark owner information, trademark inquiry, and licensing using internal trademark.
