Protecting UAE Exports Against International Investigations
The Ministry of Economy exerts tremendous efforts to protect the UAE exports and address any measures against UAE exports in international markets, including trade defence investigations and increase in duties that may affect the export performance. It provides necessary support to the affected UAE industries to help them get through these investigations and avoid any trade protectionist tariffs.

Prevent Trade Protectionist Tariffs Against National Industries
The Ministry of Economy communicates directly with the foreign investigation authorities aiming to prevent the imposition of protectionist tariffs during any investigation, which lasts 12 months from the date of opening the investigation. It provides all data and support to the national industries and is involved during the course of the investigation, as follows:

Submit a request to join the investigation as an interested party, in order to be involved in various stages of the investigation

Submit legal and technical defences against the allegations in complaint, which are included in the non-confidential copy of the complaint.

Participate in the public hearing organised by the foreign investigative body – which is attended by all parties concerned with the investigation – to present the pleadings verbally.

Submit legal and technical payments on the initial report of the investigation issued by the foreign investigative body.

Explore possibility to request a bilateral hearing with the foreign investigative authority to provide any additional support.

Submit legal and technical payments on the semi-final report of the investigation issued by the foreign investigative authority.

Explore possibility of requesting a bilateral hearing with the foreign investigative authority to discuss what is stated in the final report of the investigation.
The Ministry of Economy Cooperates with WTO Committees
The Ministry of Economy actively participates in the works of the committees of the World Trade Organization (WTO), and presents its concerns on the investigations brought against UAE exports in an arbitrary manner during regular meetings of these committees. This move aims to record the position of the country regarding trade protectionist fees in the official minutes of the meeting of the WTO and to provide the countries concerned with all the required clarifications and defences so as to close the investigations.
