Defect DescriptionIn a small number of vehicles, exposed to high ambient temperatures, smoke or fire has occurred in the engine compartment while or after driving, which may affect the safe operation of the vehicle or the safety of the vehicle occupants. Drivers may experience insufficient or no AC cooling or reduced engine power. They may also notice smoke or fire coming from under the hood. There is a risk of fire in engine compartment under the hood which may affect safe vehicle operation or the occupants of the vehicle.
Instructions of Use for PreventionIn the meantime, if customers experience insufficient or no AC cooling, reduced engine power or smoke or fire, they are advised to turn off the vehicle, park in a safe location and contact roadside assistance or their dealer.
ProcedureGM dealers will replace the low & high-speed cooling fan fuses (30A/40A) and A/C blower fuse(30A/40A) with new 30A fuses. Also install new fuse labels in the Engine fuse box cover and new Engine compartment covers on certain vehicles.
