Federal Law No (18) of 1993 concerning the Commercial Transactions Law

The provisions of this law apply to merchants and to all acts of commerce undertaken by any person, even if not a merchant or trader. The law defines said acts of commerce, identifies merchants, commercial domicile, commercial name, illegitimate competition, trademarks and commercial data. The law further addresses the details of commercial obligations and contracts, types of commercial sale, deposits in public warehouses and the securities market. This is in addition to the types of commercial agencies and securities, bankruptcy of companies, preventive reconciliation, bankruptcy crimes and prevention and other relevant topics. Ministers and the competent authorities of each emirate, as per the designation of each, must implement the provisions of this law; while the minister of economy and trade shall issue the required resolutions enforcing this federal law, upon consulting with the competent authorities in the UAE.
