Economic, Commercial and Technical Cooperation Agreements Signed by the UAE

The UAE has signed Agreements on Economic, Trade and Technical Cooperation with several countries around the world, which contribute to developing and strengthening cooperation with the signatory countries, exchanging benefits and promoting common interests in accordance with applicable laws and regulations. These agreements highlight the priority areas of cooperation between the UAE and its counterpart. Such cooperation includes fields of industry, agriculture, communications, education and scientific research, technology, information, aviation, transportation, tourism and culture, among others. Agreements set a mechanism to achieve their goals and objectives through collaboration platforms such as joint economic committees, working groups, task forces, and specialized sub-committees. These platforms lay the short-term framework for cooperation between both countries and are held periodically to ensure the continuity of the UAE’s economic relations with its international counterparts.

Objectives of Economic Cooperation Agreements

Economic cooperation agreements serve as building blocks for international cooperation in vital sectors such as tourism, technology, digital, agriculture, healthcare and business. They also contribute to enhancing investment opportunities in the private sector in the UAE as well as other signatory countries. Cooperation in various promising sectors is enhanced through trade delegations, joint economic events on growth opportunities in the countries concerned, key exhibitions that promote regional trade services, economic studies on bilateral markets, knowledge exchange about available investment opportunities and growth prospects, and strategic partnerships.

Joint Economic Committees of the UAE with Other Countries

Joint Economic Committees are collaboration platforms established through Economic, Trade and Technical Cooperation Agreements and Memoranda of Understanding between the UAE and signatory countries. In these committees, federal and local government entities, as well as private sector businesses participate by expressing their will and desire to cooperate with their international counterparts. Joint Economic Committees enable UAE entities to interact with their international counterparts and ensure that the achievement of their goals and the resolution of any issues they may face.
