The Role of the Ministry of Economy

• Reinforcing economic and commercial cooperation among the OIC member states.
• Drawing up programmes designed to increase the welfare of the member states in the economic and trade fields by expanding the scope of commercial exchanges and establishing a free trade area.
• Supporting initiatives designed to establish permanent cooperation among the OIC members and the international and regional organisations concerned with trade and economy.
• Supporting the OIC member states wishing to join the World Trade Organization and coordinating processes among the Islamic member states.
• Supporting efforts to activate the use of e-commerce among the member states of the organisation.
• Inviting the Islamic Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture to establish its activities in the field of exchanging information and experiences among chambers of commerce and industry in the member states.
• The Ministry of Economy is responsible for studying the agenda of the COMCEC meetings, making observations on the topics raised, in coordination and cooperation with the ministries, authorities and local departments concerned, participating in COMCEC meetings and following up on the implementation of its recommendations.
