Our Organisational Structure

The organisational structure of the Ministry of Economy is designed to reflect the leading role played by the ministry in achieving economic development plans, strengthening the country’s position on the competitiveness map and developing the country's foreign relations. The organisational structure includes the senior leadership of the ministry, headed by His Excellency Abdulla bin Touq Al Marri, Minister of Economy and Cabinet Member, His Excellency Dr Ahmad Belhoul Al Falasi, Minister of State for Entrepreneurship and Small and Medium Enterprises and His Excellency Dr Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, Minister of State for Foreign Trade. The organisational units affiliated to the Minister of Economy are the Internal Audit Office, Strategic and Future Department, Government Communication Department, the Minister’s Advisors, the Chief Economist, Information and Economic Studies Department, Economic Policies and Legislations Department and Undersecretary.

The Minister of State for Entrepreneurship and Small and Medium Enterprises oversees the Entrepreneurship and SMEs Development sector, which includes Small and Medium Enterprises Development Department, Entrepreneurship Department, Development of Innovation in the Economy and Patents Department, and the Tourism Development Department. The Minister of State for Foreign Trade oversees each of the foreign trade affairs sector, which consists of the Commercial Attachés and Country Business Department, Trade Negotiations and International Organisations Department, Trade Promotion Department, and Investment and Talent Acquisition Department.

The Undersecretary’s Office is affiliated to the Commercial Affairs Regulatory Sector, which includes the Commercial Registration and Certificates of Origin Department, Customer Happiness Channels Department, Cooperatives and Strategic Stocks Department, Trademarks and Intellectual Works Department and the Auditors Department; in addition to the Control and Follow-up Sector, which includes the Competition and Consumer Protection Department, Commercial Control Department, Anti-injurious Practices Department and Anti-money Laundering Department; as well as the Support Services Sector, which consists of Human Resources and Administrative Affairs Department, Financial Affairs Department and the Information Technology Department.
